Barista and Girls infinitesimal play list

queen.PNG

Play on words and pop culture…in 3 months there will be another movie movie and Nimby and Bimbys non offensive mama’s boy hipster playlist will be satired…GRR.
I miss waiting until the shine came off the apple before going out and making fun of something instead it’s in the limelight and stays there way longer than it should inundating all of us with it’s mediocre mind melting inexplicable existence… OFF TOPIC SORRY, whoa.

HEY CLYDE!
What do you listen to when you squeeze out these comics?
I’ll tell ya, in the form of a short play list based entirely on how I’m feeling right now at 1:51pm

TANGENT/RANT ALERT!!!

I’d like to make a disclaimer that when I get the formalities over with music I get all fuzzy about the shit it reminds me of and every favorite song for every person (’cept maybe Paj) has a story or some sort of line of memories attatched to it from the point in thier life where they first heard it or a time where they were listening to it like crazy.
I’m the type of person who if I hear a song or an album I really like I’ll be listening to it over and over and over until I think I’m crazy and move on to something else. This cycle can last anywhere between 3 days to an entire summer, however it usually ties into 1 or 2 other albums if it lasts that long. Another thing is that I hate to say influences, or comparing musicians to other musicians. I think it’s kinda rude to the artist. I am guilty of doing that in this list but it’s only because in the song I chose the voc’s are SO reminiscent of one another it’s impossible to ignore I am NOT NOT NOT comparing the 2 artists styles since barring the vocals they sound, stylistically NOTHING alike.

THERE.

COMICS2 PLAYLIST FALL MIX:

1. Queen
“Sail away (sweet sister)”
The Game
What the hell can I say about fuckin Queen? I had this Album on Vinyl and I used to play this song on my record player all the fucking time. I love Queen, I might just turn this list into a bunch of songs I like by Queen. Like Don’t try Suicide, Death on 2 legs, Mustapha, Dreamers Ball (Freddie is so gay, I loves it.) Fat Bottom Girls, Bicycle Race, Ok I gotta calm down. Man.
I love how Queen-y this song is (fan of Queen, you know exactly what I’m talking about since no other mother fucker on the planet sounds “queen-y”). I do dig the old school, guitars early in the song, just for a moment if your ears blink you’ll miss what I’m talking about but they make me think of Beethoven or somethin. like it’d be just as cool if it was a harpsichord, which reminds me of my list of instruments that need to be in more music; Rock Harpsichord, Rock Organ, Rock Flute, Rock Accordian, and Rock Tuba.

2. Rufas Wainwright
“Foolish Love”
Rufas Wainwright
I heard this song for the 1st time about 2 1/2 yrs ago when I broke up with my ex boyfriend right after siging a 6month lease with him at our apartment. I love how its like he has a full orchestra behind him, this song starts out so sad and acapella and then you come round and here that it feels like more of something you’d think of as a showtune or on a soundtrack in some romantic comedy movie during a montage er somethin. I loves me this song. I’m such a puff.

3. Led Zeppelin
“Trampled under foot”
I don’t know the album and I REFUSE to know.
I’d like to mention that I was never really big on “getting the led out” but this song is rockin. Thanks to my boyfriend for turning me on to it and not listening to me when I said I didn’t really like LZ.
Its like Disco meets fuckin…I dunno, it’s just rockin. It makes me think that any girl that hears this song would be inclined to sexy dancing and removing the clothes whilst doing so. Good beat for walking to the bus stop to if you aren’t one to strip. But I could say that about Black Bettie. I save that song for when I’m going to bake a cake.

4. Devo
“The girl you want”
Tank Girl Soundtrack
I dunno if thats from any other albums or if they recorded that expressly for the movie but I like this song anyways. I had Devo Q: Are we not men A: We are DEVO on vinyl, it was a picture disc and the picture was folded over inside. I wish I still had it. I like alot of the songs on The Tank Girl soundtrack, I don’t know if it’s just Ice T or if its Ice T’s band Body Count but that brings me to number 5

5. Body Count
“Cop Killer”
Body Count CD EP
Ice T reminds me of Henry Rollins on this disc, I picked it up at a garage sale in Lawrence KS a few years ago. Every time I listen to Body Count I think about how I want to jump in the air and get all fiesty. On the other hand Ice T sounds almost juvenile. Like BC is his way of getting out his inner angry teen-ager. Part of me wants to say that in the music world I occupy (I’m the only occupant) BC is kind of over rated. Don’t misunderstand when I say that though, I still enjoy BC but I think I liked it way more when I was angry and wanting to punch people.
However, I digress. Or digest…somethin :P
I love this CD Ernie C. was jammin on the guit-fiddle and I think that its more punk rock then heavy metal with the drums and all. Thats just my opinion, I also like the part where Ice asks what do you want to be when you grow up- cop killer, good choice. Ha. He’s cranky about the po-lees.

6. Johnny Cash
“One Piece at a time”
One Piece at a time
It’s a change from cop killer but I think this song is cute and I’m a lil burned out on “Ring of fire” and “I walk the line” “Folsom prison Blues” and “Hurt”. All good songs blah blah blah but I hear em so much I’ll have to hold out on them for a while before I don’t get bored with them. Despite ol Johnny’s extensive record discography I picked this song because its hilarious and it reminds me of someone’s granpappy.

7. Agent Orange
“Blood Stains”
Latest and Greatest
Originally heard on Living in Darkness
West coast punk rock people, this song is like a standard. I love it the surf guitar riff and the fact that it sounds more like an anthem then anything. Mike Palm gives me a vibe of another west coast punk band’s vocals; Greg Graffin from Bad Religion, only a little less whiny. Don’t get me wrong I have a soft spot for BR its just that Mike is a little bit more listentoable then Greg. My opinion on Bad Religion is alot like that of The Ramones, if you’ve heard 1 song you’ve heard them all Sorry Greg Sorry The Ramones… It makes me feel like this is the song you listen to right before summer ends. Coincidence? I think not, which ties into another end o summer song;

8. Ben Harper
“Burn one Down/I want to be ready”
Live from Mars disc 1
Originally on Fight for your mind
I know I have 2 songs picked but I tell ya I am all about these 2 songs right now. These 2 songs are totally different, I picked “Burn one Down” 1st since I think this song is what brings out my inner hippie. I like the drums and I love it live heard the studio rec and didn’t like it nearly as much. Ben Harper suffers from an ailment that I made up when I heard my 1st studio rec by Social Distortion vs Live at the Roxy: Their live albums have so much more feeling than something they mixed up in a booth some place. Moving on…
I had a tough time picking up this 2 disc set, for one thing it was 30 bucks, for another it didn’t have all the songs I wanted on it. For instance “I want to be ready” isn’t on my live disc. Grr. I kinda forgot all about that and am on my way to grab Fight For your Mind come pay day.

9. Decendants
“Silly Girl”
Somery
originally on I don’t want to grow up
Sing a song of EMO. I think these lad’s set the standard for emo music. Maybe unintentionally. Its not like this is thier overall sound not at all (SEE: “I LIKE FOOD or ALLOGISTICS”) but this is like the shining beacon for someone to stash in thier list of, fuckin, influences for the band they put together wheN they start to get all angsty and burned by the chicks because of thier inevitable nerdiness. (Don’t tell Lee I turned a noun into an adjective) I dunno, I just know that this song gives me warm fuzzies. Since I think this album was recorded in the early-mid 80’s it also keeps firm the thought about that whole EMO jive I was babbling on about. If that doesn’t make you think they’re emo SEE: HOPE. I’m just sayin.

10. Sublime
“New Realization”
Everything under the sun disc 3
I THINK originally from Brad Nowell and friends or was it Destroy the bootleg?
Slow and brooding with beautiful vocals, and guitar. Passion babies, friggin love this song perfect for the season change and all the memories I get smacked in the face with. When the air gets crisp and that familiar smell comes with it I think of getting high at 15/16/17 and skippin school to hang out with my boyfriend at that time and finding Vodka to drink in Laura’s closet. Decorated with christmas lights and spray paint and blood from some pretty rough closet parties. I know alot of people don’t like Sublime, but dudes with pretty voices make me all tickley in the pants. I loves me some male vocalists. RAOW.

Thats my feelings on today, and as the sun warms my forearms as I type this, from a gloomy gray afternoon I think it’s all quite “chronologically” fitting.

Cheers

How can you be so sure that I don’t connect my favorite songs with emotional memories? Maybe I do, maybe I just don’t tell you suckas about it.

    Or maybe I’m just a Robon(1).
