Don’t get me wrong…

Who doesn’t love a play on words? I did this one in a mini zine awhile back I called The King James Version. It was silly character descriptions with fake news casts and commercials and reviews of music that was basically: if you haven’t heard it by now, you really should. It was the early inception of what is this place now.

In other news:

I am hardly one who is up for gettin down with the long hairs. Passive agressive behavior and “I love you” whispered through a haze of pot smoke does nothing for me…it’s a little too…well…yeah. I don’t approve. BUT! I do approve of stickin it to the man.

I come from a line of gypsies tramps and carnies and on my various travels about the internet I wandered upon a news link regarding the inappropriate treatment of the Rainbow Gathering attendees this year.

Basically when I read ANYTHING in the media about riots and the like I tend to lean towards the accounts of the people involved. The folks that were there have a better handle on what went down than anyone else. It’s thier accounts that add truth to a L O N G history of omission and re-writes. See: THE MEDIA.

Or your history book regarding the Hay Market riots, see: Wells Fargo a History of.

And for the record I’ve been to PLENTY of protests to know just how the press likes to skew things in the less disruptive direction. I like disruption. It’s the spice of life. See: An upscale restaurant surrounded by smiling quiet talking couples when I run through screaming “GODZIRRA!” with lettuce on my head.

Regardless I personally don’t trust anyone with any kind of connection with the press. I thought this was supposed to be fair evenhanded unbiased NEWS. No. I remember when dubbya came for the kick off of the Republican National Convention and all the news heavyweights for my city there along with 500 angry protesters…come 5pm 6pm 9pm 10pm This was all the coverage that the protesters got: The President came to the xcel center today to talk about the RNC blah blah blah, there were a few hecklers but that didn’t spoil his good time. See: EATING HOT DOGS. Or whatever the hell he did.

Now don’t get me wrong. There is a good way and a bad way of changing the world and running all over the place yelling and holding signs does nothing. I was young, I was full of piss and vinegar…but now I’m all outta vinegar.

When I came across this it got my vinegar levels up. I don’t like it when cops point guns at children. I’ve had it happen to me and it was…to say the least…no fun.

I pressed on further to get different accounts and I found this and this and then this one too. I checked out the ACLU website though and it didn’t yeild any results. Some times I just hate the news.

Seriously.

Thats why I don’t watch it. If I do, it’s more for the entertainment value, not for any kind of information on current events. Sorry. They’re lucky I’ll tune in to watch the weather.

So before you all start thinking I’m some sort of crazy nuts-o job-o you’ll eventually see on the corner with some badly xerox’d maniphesto see: MY ART SHOW I just don’t like the news. Not for the fact that its boring but I always walk away with no actual knowledge of anything. Pointless. It’s just some sort of thickener added to a soup of inaccuracies and sensationalism. Gurgle.

More on this story as it develops now for BG’s ladies of the evening recipe glammoramma!!

well said. besides, local news channels try to show how much they care about their surroundings and neighborhoods. Its all BS. they are local celebs in their minds and want to be treated as such. they are not talented, they are not interesting. they read the news and think they are important and try to make people think they are a loving family. Lame-Fucking-O!

Btw, I like the wind up key in the anchor womans back.

  2. Katalac Says:

Hey, “it’s a protest singer singing a protest song”
“Industrial Disease” Lyrics by “Dire Straits”

and if they were not schlepping the skewed news, they would be after your job or mine!
Paul Douglass has made millions with his weather contraptions and was still wrong as much as he was right about the weather!
Hey, ask any Brown College graduate how much they enjoy being a watier/waitress!
Sometimes it makes as much sense as 93x playing Wheezers “Pork and beans”.

Cel #2 has the blond bimbo reading the news. I really like her eyes! Crazy! Kind of like the my friends the biker babes and carnies…

On a final note: you mess wtih me, you are messin with the whole trailer park!

i listen to news. i read the internet.
    i’m curious about everything.
    i’m a filter. (i get clogged, because
i don’t clean the filter. granted).
    my news is therefore colored.
    also called: rose colored glasses
    category: see the world through.

  5. Jay Friggin Friggin Friggin Bird Says:

I challenge any of you to present some “submittable art” to Wratchet’s request for reader art submissions. Take that filter and rose coloured glasses and apply it to media. I built a cool desktop theme, but I tosseed it. Back to the drawing board.
I will have my art ready by midnight tonight.
    Anybody up for a challenge?
I will submit if you do? (Bump knuckles?) dude!

  6. Seraphine Says:

    i have problems with submission.
    well, with being controlled really.
    D/s is a fascinating subject, i’d really
    be a bad mistress however.
i mean, i’d miss the back and forth,
    the sharing of initiative…

  7. Jay Friggin Friggin Friggin Bird Says:

Well, submitting art is different than getting spanked! (Kind of…)
I dig being able to play and create what I want to do, sometimes. I met my midnight deadline and emailed my Barista Girl . Com inspired desktop .
Glad is is not a contest, as I kind of suck.
    Passive is as passive does!
